Gas Detector and Identifier for Unmanned Systems
The Gas Detector and Identifier for Unmanned Systems is a compact FTIR-based solution built for robotic deployment in dangerous or inaccessible zones. At only 4 lbs and measuring 5.2” × 9.2” × 6.3”, it integrates easily onto ground and aerial unmanned platforms. Despite its size, the InterceptIR identifies over 5,600 gas and vapor threats, including TICs, CWAs, VOCs, and WMDs. It operates on 15–24V DC, using a 2-meter multi-pass gas cell and active 1 L/min sample pump, and delivers chemical identification in under 60 seconds.
Its vibration-isolated design allows stable operation on mobile platforms, including tracked and wheeled robots. The JSON-based API enables seamless communication with advanced robotics software and ATAK-compatible systems (integration in development). Detection sensitivity ranges from 10 ppm to 50 ppm, making it capable of identifying multiple components per scan in real-time. The device supports both continuous monitoring and point sampling, with an automated atmospheric compensation feature for accurate readings even in unstable environments.
The Gas Detector and Identifier is ideal for CBRN missions, explosive ordnance disposal, surveillance in booby-trapped facilities, or monitoring areas contaminated by industrial accidents. It allows teams to remotely assess risks before entry, minimizing exposure to potentially fatal airborne agents. Missions in harsh, dusty, or wet conditions benefit from its IP54 rating and operational tolerance across extreme temperatures and humidity levels.
