Gladiator Disruptor System
The NIC Instruments Gladiator Disruptor System is a complete EOD tool suite designed for rendering safe improvised explosive devices (IEDs) ranging from small packages to large suspect containers. Manufactured entirely from stainless steel for full corrosion resistance, each unit in the Gladiator range is built to withstand thousands of firing cycles under field conditions without degradation in performance.
The system divides into two categories: recoilless and recoiling disruptors, each available in three barrel bore sizes — 20mm, 30mm, and 40mm — to match the threat size and operational requirement. The recoilless range includes the Excalibur (40mm), Cutlass (30mm), and Rapier (20mm). The recoiling range covers the Longsword (40mm), Sabre (30mm), and Katana (20mm). All units accept electrically initiated cartridges and carry an interchangeable breech allowing 0.50-inch calibre cartridges and cartridges from other compatible disruptor systems to be fitted without modification.
The Gladiator recoilless design eliminates the need for two separate filling operations — the barrel and compensator fill simultaneously from a single front-loading point, reducing preparation time and operator error risk during high-pressure render safe procedures. The compensator sits over the barrel rather than behind it, making the overall unit shorter and lighter than competing recoilless disruptors. A lightweight multi-position manual stand accommodates all three bore sizes and allows angular and positional adjustment across a wide range of shot placements including vehicle wheel arches, suspect bags, and briefcases.
The Trident kit bundles all three recoilless disruptors — Excalibur, Cutlass, and Rapier — into a single rigid waterproof case with one shared stand and tool kit, giving EOD operators a full size-range capability in one transportable package.
