Sonde Locator

Sonde locators are handheld electromagnetic receiver instruments that detect and track the position of a battery-powered sonde transmitter inserted inside a buried pipe, drain, or conduit. They locate the sonde signal from the surface above ground. Operators use them to mark the buried pipe route and measure depth without excavation along the survey path. Furthermore, signal direction indicators on advanced models show whether the sonde lies ahead or behind the operator’s current position. This speeds up initial sonde acquisition after inserting the transmitter into a distant pipe access point.

Receiver housing uses impact-resistant ABS or rubber-armored construction with IP65 dust and water resistance ratings.
