Multi-Barrel Rocket Launcher

Multi-barrel rocket launchers fire multiple unguided or guided rockets in rapid succession from a single platform. They deliver high-volume firepower across wide target areas in seconds. Ground forces, naval vessels, and aircraft use these systems to saturate troop concentrations, vehicle convoys, and fortified positions with explosive effects.

Ground-based multiple launch rocket systems mount tube arrays of 12, 18, 24, or 40 launch tubes on wheeled or tracked vehicle chassis. The BM-21 Grad fires 40 × 122mm rockets to 40 kilometers range. It completes a full salvo in under 20 seconds. Furthermore, the salvo covers approximately 14.5 hectares with fragmentation effects. The M270 MLRS fires 12 × 227mm rockets or 2 × ATACMS missiles to 45 kilometers on standard rockets. Extended-range guided variants reach over 300 kilometers. The BM-30 Smerch extends range to 90 kilometers with 300mm rockets carrying unitary, submunition, and thermobaric warhead options.

Man-portable and light vehicle systems cover shorter ranges. The M202 FLASH fires four 66mm incendiary rockets to 750 meters. Additionally, naval multi-barrel systems including the RBU-6000 fire 12 × 213mm rockets to 6,000 meters. They deliver depth charge warheads against submarine contacts in shallow water environments.

Guided rocket upgrade kits add GPS/INS terminal guidance to standard 122mm and 227mm rockets. Moreover, these kits convert area suppression weapons into precision strike systems with CEP below 10 meters at maximum range.
