Compact Radar Sensors

Compact Radar Sensors are miniaturized radio frequency detection devices that use emitted and reflected electromagnetic signals to detect, track, and measure the position, velocity, and distance of objects within a defined coverage zone. Scaled down from full-size radar installations, compact sensors retain core detection functionality in a reduced form factor suitable for integration into UAVs, ground vehicles, perimeter security systems, robotics platforms, and fixed surveillance infrastructure.

These sensors operate across multiple frequency bands depending on application requirements — 24GHz and 77GHz millimeter-wave bands are common in short to medium-range detection systems, providing range resolution of 0.1 to 0.5 meters and velocity measurement accuracy within ±0.1 meters per second. Coverage patterns vary between narrow-beam configurations for focused target tracking and wide-angle designs covering sectors up to 120 degrees horizontally for area surveillance applications.

Detection range on compact radar sensors typically spans from 0.5 meters to 300 meters depending on target size, antenna gain, and transmitted power output. The sensors maintain reliable performance in rain, fog, dust, and complete darkness — conditions where optical and infrared sensors experience significant performance degradation. Operating temperatures generally range from -40°C to +85°C, with sealed IP67 or IP68-rated housings on outdoor-rated variants.

Output interfaces include CAN bus, UART, SPI, Ethernet, and analog voltage signals, allowing integration with microcontrollers, embedded processors, vehicle control systems, and security management platforms. Power consumption on compact units ranges from 1W to 15W depending on operational mode and transmit power settings.
