Viper Drone
The Viper drone is a tactical fixed-wing unmanned aerial system designed for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions at battalion and brigade level — providing ground commanders with organic aerial observation capability without requiring dedicated manned aviation support or national-level ISR asset allocation.
Fixed-wing aerodynamic design gives the Viper significantly greater endurance than equivalent multi-rotor platforms at the same payload weight. Cruise endurance on tactical Viper variants reaches 6 to 12 hours depending on payload configuration and operating altitude. Cruise speed covers 80 to 150 km/h with a maximum speed above 180 km/h on sprint intercept profiles. Operating altitude ranges from 300 meters AGL for low-observable tactical reconnaissance to 3,000 meters MSL for extended area surveillance. Furthermore, electric motor variants produce minimal acoustic and infrared signature — reducing detection probability against adversary air defense systems during low-altitude reconnaissance operations.
Launch configurations include hand launch on compact man-portable variants, bungee catapult launch on medium-class systems, and pneumatic catapult on larger tactical platforms — eliminating prepared runway requirements at forward operating positions. Recovery uses deep stall parachute, net catch, or belly landing on prepared flat terrain. Payload bay capacity covers 1 to 5kg depending on airframe class — accommodating EO/IR gimbal cameras, signals intelligence collection modules, synthetic aperture radar payloads, and laser designator systems. Additionally, EO/IR gimbal payloads deliver full-motion video in daylight and thermal infrared channels — transmitting live feeds to ground control stations and ROVER terminal-equipped ground units simultaneously.
Ground control stations operate from ruggedized laptop or tablet configurations — supporting pre-programmed autonomous waypoint missions with manual override capability. Datalink ranges extend from 30 kilometers on standard line-of-sight radio links to beyond visual range on satellite communication or relay configurations. Moreover, encrypted digital datalinks on military variants resist jamming and interception attempts during sensitive reconnaissance operations.
