Radio direction finders (RDF) determine the bearing of a radio transmitter from a receiving station. They analyze the direction from which the incoming signal arrives. Furthermore, they enable location of hostile transmitters, distress beacons, unauthorized stations, and tactical communications emitters through single-station bearing or multi-station triangulation.

Doppler direction finders use a rotating or electronically switched circular antenna array. They measure the Doppler frequency shift caused by antenna element switching. This determines signal arrival direction. Bearing accuracy reaches 1 to 2 degrees RMS across VHF and UHF ranges. Furthermore, Watson-Watt direction finders use two orthogonal loop antennas and a sense antenna. They compute bearing from the amplitude ratio between loop antennas. The sense antenna resolves the 180-degree ambiguity. Digital signal processors produce bearing outputs in under 1 millisecond.

Interferometric direction finders use wide-aperture antenna arrays with baselines of several wavelengths. Phase difference measurements between array elements determine signal arrival angle. Accuracy reaches below 0.5 degrees RMS on signals with good signal-to-noise ratio. This suits military SIGINT and ELINT applications requiring precise emitter location from a single platform. Additionally, amplitude comparison direction finders use fixed directional antenna sectors. These provide instantaneous bearing for aircraft distress beacon location and maritime search and rescue operations.

Frequency coverage spans HF at 2 to 30MHz for long-range maritime distress monitoring. VHF/UHF coverage at 30MHz to 3GHz addresses tactical radio and drone control link direction finding. Moreover, microwave band coverage targets radar emitter location for electronic warfare applications.

These systems serve Pakistan Army SIGINT units, Pakistan Air Force electronic warfare squadrons, Pakistan Navy maritime patrol vessels, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority spectrum monitoring operations, and Civil Aviation Authority distress beacon location programs.

Tactical Supply Pakistan supplies radio direction finders for military SIGINT, electronic warfare, maritime distress, and spectrum monitoring procurement across Pakistan.
