The Exail QUADRANS is a fully strapdown fiber-optic gyrocompass and attitude heading reference system (AHRS) built for surface vessel navigation, submersible control, and autonomous vehicle guidance. It holds IMO and IMO-HSC certification — meeting international maritime organization requirements for gyrocompass accuracy and reliability on commercial and naval vessels.

The core of the QUADRANS is a compact inertial measurement unit (IMU). It contains three fiber-optic gyroscopes and three accelerometers mounted on orthogonal axes. Three-axis FOG technology measures rotational rate around each axis simultaneously. Three accelerometers capture linear acceleration across all axes. A real-time computer fuses these six data streams to output true-north heading, roll, pitch, and rate of turn with precise timestamping at fast output rates. Furthermore, the strapdown architecture eliminates moving mechanical parts entirely. As a result, the QUADRANS requires no maintenance throughout its service life — unlike mechanical gyrocompasses that need regular servicing and component replacement.

Heading accuracy on the QUADRANS meets IMO gyrocompass performance standards for vessels operating in high sea states and dynamic positioning applications. Operating temperature covers -20°C to +55°C. The unit connects to vessel navigation systems and autopilot controllers through Ethernet and serial interfaces simultaneously. Additionally, a web-based graphical user interface runs on any device with a browser — eliminating dedicated PC or proprietary software requirements during installation and operation. GPS and electromagnetic log inputs provide optional aiding for enhanced position and speed accuracy in demanding conditions.

The QUADRANS has been in operational use across multiple navies including French, Chilean, UK, and Portuguese fleets, as well as dynamic positioning operators — demonstrating its reliability across both military and commercial maritime applications.

These systems serve Pakistan Navy surface vessel and submarine navigation upgrade programs, Pakistan Maritime Security Agency patrol vessel navigation systems, offshore support vessels operating in the Arabian Sea, hydrographic survey vessels, and autonomous underwater vehicle programs requiring IMO-certified fiber-optic gyrocompass capability without mechanical gyro maintenance overhead.

Tactical Supply Pakistan supplies the Exail QUADRANS Fiber-Optic Gyrocompass for naval vessel navigation, dynamic positioning, and autonomous vehicle guidance procurement across Pakistan.
