Furthermore, eddy current testing devices induce electrical currents into conductive materials through a coil probe, with defects disrupting the current flow pattern in ways the instrument detects and displays as signal deviation. Detection sensitivity across these methods varies, with ultrasonic and radiographic techniques typically detecting flaws down to 0.5mm depending on material thickness and defect orientation.
Portable units run on rechargeable battery packs with 4 to 8 hour operational runtime, while bench-mounted systems connect to standard mains power.
