High Design Radiodetection Correlator (SPX-RD533)
The Radiodetection SPX-RD533 is a multi-function leak noise correlator designed to detect and pinpoint water leaks on underground pipe networks while also tracing pipe routes and mapping network topography. Water utilities, municipal works departments, and infrastructure maintenance contractors use this system to locate leaks without excavating — reducing repair costs and minimizing disruption to road surfaces and surrounding infrastructure.
The RD533 works by placing sensors on two accessible fittings — such as hydrants, valves, or standpipes — on either side of a suspected leak zone. Each sensor picks up the noise generated by water escaping under pressure through a pipe defect. The central unit then correlates the time difference between the two sensor signals and calculates the precise leak location between them based on pipe material, diameter, and distance inputs entered by the operator. Additionally, a highly sensitive ground microphone detects minute leaks that standard acoustic methods miss.
The automatic frequency search function scans across the acoustic spectrum and identifies the dominant leak frequency without manual input. Both automatic and manual digital filtering options allow the operator to suppress background noise and isolate true leak signals in environments with high ambient noise from traffic or machinery. Furthermore, measurements save to the central unit, enabling operators to compare readings across multiple visits and track network condition trends over time.
When paired with a compatible transmitter, the RD533 also traces pipe routes underground — identifying the path of uncharted mains and establishing accurate network topography records. One-button operation and an auto-brightness adjusting display keep field use straightforward across different lighting conditions. Pipe material selection covers metallic and plastic pipe types, with the system adjusting its correlation calculations accordingly.
These capabilities apply directly to Pakistan’s water and sanitation agencies, WASA departments in Lahore, Karachi, and Faisalabad, and municipal infrastructure teams managing aging underground water networks where undetected leaks cause significant water loss and road damage.
Tactical Supply Pakistan supplies the Radiodetection SPX-RD533 correlator for water leak detection, pipe route tracing, and underground network survey procurement across Pakistan.
