Gimbal range finding LiDAR systems are UAV-mounted payloads that combine stabilized gimbal platforms with laser-based distance measurement sensors, enabling accurate range data collection alongside optical or thermal imaging from airborne platforms. These systems are used across ISR operations, border surveillance, topographic survey, and infrastructure inspection where knowing the precise distance to a target or ground feature is operationally critical.

Many units combine the LRF with electro-optical (EO) daylight cameras offering 10x to 40x optical zoom and thermal infrared sensors at resolutions of 640×512 or higher, creating a single compact payload handling visual imaging, thermal detection, and distance ranging simultaneously. Weight across available models ranges from 0.7kg to 1.5kg, making them compatible with mid-class UAV platforms without significantly impacting flight endurance. AI-assisted object tracking is available on select units, locking onto moving targets and maintaining range data during active surveillance operations.
