Vehicle-Mounted Systems

Vehicle-mounted systems are integrated equipment packages permanently or semi-permanently fitted to tactical, security, and utility vehicles — extending the platform’s capability beyond basic transport to include active surveillance, communications, electronic warfare, force protection, and weapon systems that operate from the vehicle as a mobile base.

Surveillance vehicle-mounted systems place electro-optical and thermal imaging cameras, radar sensors, and signals intelligence collection equipment on mast-mounted or roof-mounted platforms. These give reconnaissance and border patrol vehicles persistent 360-degree observation capability from static positions or while moving. Pan-tilt-zoom camera systems with AI video analytics detect, classify, and track personnel and vehicles at ranges exceeding 2 kilometers from the vehicle position. Furthermore, vehicle-mounted radar systems including ground surveillance radar and counter-UAS detection radar scan the surrounding terrain and airspace continuously — cueing optical sensors to detected threats without requiring the vehicle crew to manually search the environment.

Communications vehicle-mounted systems integrate HF, VHF, UHF, and satellite communication terminals onto command and logistics vehicles — providing secure voice and data links to higher headquarters, adjacent units, and fire support elements from any vehicle position. Tactical data link terminals transmit digital targeting data, situational awareness pictures, and fire mission requests directly from the vehicle to connected platforms. Additionally, electronic warfare vehicle-mounted systems carry RF jamming, direction finding, and signals intelligence collection payloads — disrupting adversary communications, locating hostile emitters, and collecting intelligence from mobile platforms that reposition between transmissions.

Weapon system mounts on tactical vehicles range from simple pintle mounts for 7.62mm and 12.7mm machine guns through ring mounts for 40mm automatic grenade launchers to remote weapon stations (RWS) carrying stabilized optical sights, thermal imaging, and electric drive mechanisms — allowing the gunner to operate and fire from inside the protected vehicle hull without exposure.
