Tank Sleeve
A tank sleeve, also referred to as a cylinder liner or cylinder sleeve, is a precision-machined tubular component installed inside a tank engine block. It forms the working bore surface within which the piston travels during the combustion cycle. Military vehicle maintenance depots, armored vehicle engineering workshops, and defense procurement logistics programs across Pakistan use tank sleeves as replacement components during engine overhaul and scheduled maintenance cycles.
Tank sleeves use centrifugally cast or forged alloy steel construction. The internal bore surface undergoes plateau honing to specific surface roughness values. As a result, this creates the oil retention texture required for adequate lubrication during high-speed combustion cycles. Additionally, the outer surface carries precision ground contact bands at upper and lower seating positions in the engine block. Consequently, these maintain correct sleeve registration and gas seal integrity throughout the full operating cycle.
Tank engine sleeves operate under extreme thermal and mechanical loading during sustained combat operations. High combustion pressures and temperatures cycle repeatedly across each engine operating hour. As a result, sleeve material selection uses chrome-molybdenum or nickel-chrome alloy steel grades. These withstand combined mechanical and thermal stress without distortion or cracking across the full service interval. Furthermore, wall thickness balances structural integrity against the weight and dimensional constraints of the specific engine design.
Sleeve replacement occurs during scheduled overhaul at defined engine hour intervals. Worn sleeves show increased blow-by, oil consumption, and compression loss. Moreover, replacement sleeves require honing to final bore dimension after installation. Consequently, this achieves correct piston clearance within the specified tolerance range for the engine type.
Tactical Supply Pakistan supplies tank sleeves to Pakistan Army armored vehicle maintenance depots and defense engineering workshops requiring genuine replacement components for main battle tank engine overhaul and repair programs throughout Pakistan.
