T-80UD diesel liner

The T-80UD diesel liner is a precision-machined cylinder sleeve for the 6TD series two-stroke opposed-piston diesel engine. This engine powers the T-80UD main battle tank. As a result, thermal loading on the liner wall runs higher than in conventional four-stroke engine designs at equivalent displacement. Liner material uses chrome-molybdenum or nickel-chrome alloy steel grades. These withstand combined mechanical and thermal stress without distortion across the service interval. Furthermore, liner wall thickness runs between 6mm and 10mm. In addition, this balances structural integrity against the weight constraints of the compact 6TD engine package.

Liner replacement occurs during scheduled overhaul at defined engine hour intervals. Worn liners show increased blow-by, oil consumption, and compression loss across the affected cylinder. Moreover, replacement liners require honing to final bore dimension after installation.
