Security Camera

A security camera captures continuous or motion-triggered video of a monitored area. It stores footage locally or sends it to a network recorder. Resolution ranges from 2MP for basic coverage up to 8MP or higher for detail work, such as reading number plates or faces at a distance. Most cameras use a CMOS sensor, paired with a fixed or varifocal lens. Varifocal lenses let installers adjust the field of view on site. This helps when exact camera placement isn’t finalized until after mounting.

Night vision comes from built-in infrared LEDs. As a result, footage stays clear in full darkness, usually 20 to 50 metres depending on the model. Some cameras add a low-light color sensor instead. This keeps footage in color even at night under minimal ambient light. Housing ratings, usually IP66 or higher, protect outdoor cameras from rain, dust, and temperature swings common across Pakistan’s climate zones. Power comes through PoE (Power over Ethernet), a single cable carrying both data and power. Alternatively, a separate 12V DC adapter powers cameras without PoE support.

Camera types include fixed dome, bullet, and PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) models. Fixed cameras suit corridors and entry points needing constant coverage of one area. PTZ cameras, on the other hand, let an operator zoom in and track movement across a wider zone. This suits large open spaces like parking lots or warehouse floors.

Meanwhile, government buildings and banks use higher-resolution models at entry points for identity verification.
