Oil-Free Dry Air Generators

Description:

Oil-free dry air generators produce instrument-quality dry compressed air without oil contamination. They supply analytical instruments, purge systems, pneumatic controls, and industrial processes with a continuous air source. Furthermore, they eliminate delivered cylinder logistics and oil carryover risk from standard lubricated compressors.

These generators integrate three functional stages. An oil-free compressor stage uses scroll, reciprocating piston, or rotary screw technology. It compresses ambient air without lubricating oil in the compression chamber. This produces air meeting ISO 8573-1 Class 0 oil content at the outlet. Furthermore, a refrigeration or desiccant drying stage removes water vapor from the compressed air. Refrigeration dryers achieve pressure dew points of -20°C to -40°C. Desiccant dryers using molecular sieve material reach -40°C to -70°C. As a result, these meet the moisture specifications of gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, and FTIR instrument supply.

Final filtration stages use coalescing and particulate filters. These remove sub-micron water droplets, dust particles, and hydrocarbon vapor traces. They produce output air meeting ISO 8573-1 Class 1 or Class 2 specifications. Additionally, combined nitrogen and dry air units such as the Parker PNEUDRI deliver dry instrument air alongside high-purity nitrogen from a single system. This covers the full gas supply requirement of an analytical laboratory from one footprint.

Flow rates range from 2 L/min on compact single-instrument units to several hundred L/min on multi-instrument systems. Output pressure covers 6 to 10 bar for standard instrument and pneumatic control supply. Moreover, built-in dew point sensors on advanced units continuously verify output quality. They trigger alarms if air quality drops below specification before reaching connected instruments.
