Off-Road Electric Scooters
Off-road electric scooters are battery-powered personal mobility vehicles built for rough terrain. They handle uneven surfaces, steep inclines, and outdoor environments where standard road scooters fail. Drive systems use brushless hub motors in the front and rear wheels. Dual-motor configurations deliver combined output from 1,000W to 5,000W. This provides the torque needed for loose gravel, soft ground, and steep inclines. Battery packs use lithium-ion or LiFePO4 cells at voltages from 48V to 72V. Capacity ranges from 15Ah to 60Ah. As a result, riding range covers 40 to 120 kilometers per charge depending on terrain and rider weight. Additionally, regenerative braking systems recover kinetic energy during deceleration. This extends range by 10 to 15% on mixed terrain with frequent stops.
Suspension systems use hydraulic front forks with 120 to 200mm of travel. Rear mono-shock or dual-shock absorbers complement the front suspension. Together these absorb impacts from rocks, roots, and uneven ground at speed. Tyres measure 10 to 11 inches in diameter with deep knobby tread patterns. Moreover, they grip mud, gravel, sand, and wet grass surfaces effectively. Hydraulic disc brakes on both wheels deliver consistent stopping in wet and muddy conditions.
IP54 or IP65 ratings protect motor controllers, battery management systems, and charging ports. These cover river crossings, rain exposure, and dusty terrain operation. Maximum speed ranges from 45 km/h on low-power variants to 80 km/h on high-performance dual-motor configurations.
