Multi-Shot Grenade Launcher

Multi-shot grenade launchers give infantry soldiers and vehicle crews the ability to fire multiple 40mm grenade rounds in rapid succession without manually reloading between each shot — significantly increasing the sustained firepower of small units during direct fire engagements, breaching operations, and area suppression missions. These weapons bridge the capability gap between single-shot underbarrel grenade launchers and crew-served automatic grenade launchers.

Revolver-type multi-shot grenade launchers use a rotating cylinder holding 5 or 6 rounds of 40mm × 46mm low-velocity grenades. The Milkor MGL Mk1S and M32A1 MSGL are the most widely fielded examples — both firing the complete cylinder in under 3 seconds at a cyclic rate that concentrates multiple grenade impacts on a target before the enemy can take cover. Effective range on 40mm × 46mm HE fragmentation rounds extends to 400 meters. The rotating cylinder loads from the front like a conventional revolver — operators reload individual chambers or swap pre-loaded cylinders during a lull to maintain sustained fire. Furthermore, the M32A1 uses a semi-automatic trigger mechanism allowing controlled aimed shots at single targets or rapid double-taps as the tactical situation requires.

Both 40mm × 46mm and 40mm × 53mm ammunition families are manufactured by Pakistan Ordnance Factories — making these weapon systems directly supportable through domestic production for Pakistan’s defense requirements.
