Laser-driven light sources (LDLS) use a high-power diode laser to energize a xenon plasma ball — generating ultrahigh-brightness broadband radiation across a spectral range of 170nm to 2,100nm from a single compact source. This approach replaces the multiple lamp types — deuterium, tungsten-halogen, and xenon arc — previously required to cover the deep ultraviolet through near-infrared range in a single analytical instrument.

LDLS technology uses high-power diode lasers to energize high-intensity xenon plasma, producing broadband radiation from 170nm to 1,700nm with ultrahigh brightness and long source life.
