Description:
The Kemp KED is a semi-rigid patient immobilization and extrication device that stabilizes the head, neck, and thoracic spine of a seated trauma patient as a single unit before and during movement from a vehicle, confined space, or any position requiring transition from seated to supine without spinal compromise. It addresses the specific challenge of extracting a potentially spine-injured patient from a car seat, cockpit, or confined seated position where standard long board immobilization cannot be applied before the patient is moved.

The device body consists of rigid reinforcing slats embedded within a contoured padded vest that wraps around the patient’s torso and back. Three color-coded chest straps secure the vest around the thorax in a defined middle-top-bottom application sequence that prevents device migration during lifting and movement. Two groin straps loop around the upper thighs, anchoring the lower portion of the vest and preventing upward displacement when the patient is tilted or lifted vertically. Padded lateral head wings fold inward against the sides of the head, and a forehead strap secures across the brow to complete rigid head immobilization within the device frame.

In Pakistan, the Kemp KED is used by ambulance services, fire and rescue teams, military medics, and traffic accident response teams managing vehicle extrication on motorways, mountain roads in KPK and Gilgit-Baltistan, and urban road accident sites where spinal injury risk requires immobilization before patient movement.

Tactical Supply Pakistan supplies the Kemp KED for ambulance services, military medical units, and rescue organizations requiring reliable spinal immobilization and extrication equipment across Pakistan.
