ID Card Scanner

An ID card scanner is an electronic document reading device that captures and extracts identity data from government-issued cards including national identity cards, driving licenses, employee access cards, and membership credentials through optical imaging, barcode decoding, magnetic stripe reading, or smart chip communication depending on the card type and the scanner’s sensor configuration. The device eliminates manual data entry by automatically populating identity fields including name, date of birth, document number, address, and expiry date into connected software systems within seconds of card presentation.

Optical scanners capture the card surface under visible, ultraviolet, and infrared illumination. Visible light imaging reads printed text and photographs.
