A Fluorescent Magnetic Kit is a non-destructive testing (NDT) consumable package used in magnetic particle inspection (MPI) to detect surface and near-surface discontinuities — including cracks, seams, laps, and fatigue fractures — in ferromagnetic components and structures. The kit combines fluorescent magnetic particle suspension, carrier fluid, and application accessories into a pre-assembled package that enables systematic inspection of machined parts, welds, castings, and structural steel elements under ultraviolet (UV-A) illumination.

The fluorescent magnetic particles within the kit are iron oxide or iron powder particles coated with a fluorescent dye that emits bright yellow-green light — peak emission at approximately 550nm — when excited by UV-A illumination at 365nm wavelength. Particle sizes range from 2 to 10 micrometers for wet suspension formulations, providing sufficient mobility in the carrier fluid to migrate toward and concentrate at magnetic flux leakage fields produced at discontinuity locations in a magnetized component. Particle concentration in the suspension bath is maintained between 0.1 and 0.4 mL per 100 mL of carrier fluid as specified in ASTM E709 and ISO 9934-2 inspection standards.

The carrier fluid included in the kit is either a water-based conditioner or a low-viscosity petroleum distillate bath fluid, selected based on component material compatibility and inspection environment requirements. Water-based carriers incorporate rust inhibitors, wetting agents, and anti-foaming additives to maintain consistent particle suspension and prevent corrosion on inspected components. Petroleum-based carriers are used where water contamination of the component or surrounding equipment is unacceptable.

Kit accessories typically include a UV-A inspection lamp rated to at least 1,000 microwatts per square centimeter at 38 centimeters — the minimum intensity specified under ASTM E709 — along with a white light meter, UV-A light meter, and application spray bottles or bath containers for wet method application.

In Pakistan, fluorescent magnetic kits are used in weld inspection on pressure vessels and pipelines, aerospace component inspection, automotive manufacturing quality control, railway axle and bogie inspection, and structural steel fabrication quality assurance programs.

Tactical Supply Pakistan supplies fluorescent magnetic kits for industrial NDT, weld inspection, and quality control procurement across Pakistan.
