DRUG HUNTER

The Drug Hunter is a portable narcotics detection and identification instrument designed for rapid field screening of controlled substances at checkpoints, vehicle search operations, border crossings, and law enforcement interdiction points. Built for deployment by non-laboratory personnel in operationally demanding environments, the device delivers substance detection and preliminary identification results without requiring chemical reagents, sample preparation, or specialist analytical training.

The instrument operates on ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) or a combined IMS and colorimetric detection platform, analyzing swab samples collected from surfaces, hands, clothing, luggage, and vehicle interiors for trace narcotic residues. Target substances in the detection library include heroin, morphine, cocaine, methamphetamine, MDMA, cannabis and THC derivatives, fentanyl and fentanyl analogues, ketamine, and synthetic cathinones. Detection thresholds reach nanogram-level concentrations on swab samples, with alarm and identification results displayed within 8 to 15 seconds of sample insertion.

The handheld or benchtop housing is constructed from impact-resistant polymer with an IP54 or higher ingress protection rating, tolerating dust and moisture exposure during outdoor field operations. Internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery packs provide 6 to 10 hours of continuous operation per charge, with a battery status indicator on the display screen. Operating temperature range spans 0°C to 45°C, covering Pakistan’s ambient conditions across most deployment environments.

A color display screen presents substance identification results, alarm levels, and operational status data clearly, with audio alarm tones providing secondary alert notification in high-noise environments. Data logging stores detection event records with timestamps for evidence chain-of-custody documentation.

In Pakistan, the Drug Hunter is used by Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) field units, police narcotics branches, customs inspection teams, airport security personnel, and prison contraband detection operations.
