Drone Reader
A Drone Reader is an electronic identification and data capture device designed to detect, interrogate, and extract identifying information from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) operating within its detection range. As regulatory frameworks for drone identification expand globally — including Remote ID standards mandated by aviation authorities — drone readers provide ground-based operators, security personnel, and airspace managers with the ability to passively or actively capture drone identity data, operator location, and flight telemetry without requiring physical interception of the aircraft.
Passive drone readers monitor RF spectrum emissions across standard drone communication frequencies — typically 433MHz, 900MHz, 2.4GHz, and 5.8GHz — capturing broadcast Remote ID signals transmitted by compliant UAVs. These signals contain the drone’s unique identifier, real-time GPS position, altitude, velocity, and the operator’s ground position, decoded and displayed on the reader’s interface within seconds of detection. Detection range for passive RF reading varies between 500 meters and 3 kilometers depending on antenna configuration and local RF environment.
Active interrogation systems extend identification capability to non-broadcasting or non-compliant drones by analyzing reflected radar signals or RF fingerprinting the drone’s communication protocol signatures, extracting manufacturer and model information from emission characteristics.
The reader hardware connects to a laptop, tablet, or dedicated display unit via USB or Wi-Fi, with software interfaces providing real-time drone track visualization on a map overlay, flight history logging, and alert generation for unregistered or unauthorized aircraft entering a defined zone.
In Pakistan, drone readers are relevant for airport perimeter security, military installation protection, VIP event security management, and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) compliance enforcement for airspace monitoring.
Tactical Supply Pakistan supplies drone readers for airspace security, defense, and regulatory compliance applications across Pakistan.
