Armor Targets
Armor targets are ballistic test specimens and training targets constructed from steel, ceramic, composite, or layered materials engineered to simulate the protection characteristics of body armour, vehicle plating, or structural shielding used in tactical and military applications. Unlike conventional paper or steel silhouette targets used in marksmanship training, armour targets are designed to absorb high-velocity projectiles, measure penetration performance, and provide feedback on armour system effectiveness across different threat calibres.
Test-grade armour targets typically use NIJ or STANAG reference panels constructed from certified ballistic steel, layered ceramics backed with resin or fabric backing, or composite laminates matching the specifications of issued protection equipment. These targets are mounted on rigid frames with measurement devices recording penetration depth, backface deformation, and projectile velocity at impact and exit — parameters essential for armour certification testing.
Training-grade armour targets use AR500 or similar hardened steel in simplified configurations — flat plates or silhouette shapes — allowing soldiers and security personnel to practice engagement of armoured targets with immediate feedback of hit/miss through visual inspection or audible feedback from the impact.
Damage accumulation from repeated impacts is an important consideration — most armour targets have finite service life measured in hundreds to thousands of rounds depending on projectile calibre, impact spacing, and target material composition. Field replacement or rotational target deployment extends overall range service life while maintaining engagement surface integrity.
In Pakistan, armour targets support military vehicle crew training, body armour qualification testing, and law enforcement firearms training across facilities requiring assessment of protection system performance against real-world threat calibres.
Tactical Supply Pakistan supplies ballistic test armour targets and training-grade steel targets for military, law enforcement, and private range operations.
