ExPen
The ExPen is an ampoule-based explosive detection device sharing the same colorimetric chemistry as the DropEx dropper-bottle system, repackaged into a single-use pen-format unit designed for individual carry by military, EOD, and security personnel. Each ExPen unit contains a sealed ampoule that releases reagent upon activation, eliminating the need for separate reagent bottles, droppers, or Work Station cases during single-test field situations. The compact pen-format fits standard uniform pockets and equipment pouches, making it accessible during active patrol, checkpoint duty, and rapid-response scenarios where carrying a full detection kit is impractical.
The ExPen detects nine explosive threat categories — Nitro Aromatics including TNT, DNT, Picric Acid, and Tetryl; Nitro Esters including Nitroglycerine, Smokeless Powder, and PETN; Nitramines including RDX and Semtex; Inorganic Nitrates including ANFO and Black Powder; Urea Nitrate; Ammonium Nitrate; Inorganic Oxidants including Chlorates, Bromates, Potassium Chlorate, Lead Dioxide, and Potassium Permanganate; Peroxides including TATP and HMTD; and Perchlorates. This full nine-category detection spectrum matches DropEx laboratory capability in a single-carry format.
