Oil-in-Water Tester – Portable, Eco-Safe Hydrocarbon Detection

Oil-in-Water Tester

The Oil-in-Water Tester is a self-contained analyzer enclosed in a robust metal housing measuring approximately 29 × 33 × 35 cm and weighing around 9.7 kg. It uses a dual-beam non-dispersive IR spectrometer with specialized optical filters. Powered by 85–264 V AC or an optional 12 V‑DC vehicle adapter, display features an 8.4″ multilingual color touchscreen and built‑in industrial PC. Connectivity is provided via LAN, RS 232, and five USB ports, with Wi‑Fi available through a USB dongle.

The device employs CFC‑free cyclohexane as the extraction solvent. It extracts from a water sample, typically 900 mL with 50 mL solvent, then measures both Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) and Total Oil and Grease (TOG) directly. Method detection limit is 0.5 mg/L; repeatability is 0.2 mg/L for 0–49.9 mg/L range. Measurement takes about two minutes plus background scan. Optional 10‑position autosampler boosts throughput, while solar‑range IR transmission avoids losses of light ends.

The Oil-in-Water Tester is deployed for environmental monitoring in downstream process water, oil spill sites, offshore platforms, and wastewater streams. It ensures compliance with ASTM D8193, correlates to EPA 1664A, ISO 9377‑2, ASTM D7066, D7678, and other standards. The unit distinguishes TOG by direct extract and TPH via Florisil® cartridge clean‑up, delivering actionable data in under five minutes to support regulatory decisions.

Trusted by field experts, Tactical Supply Pakistan delivers dependable tools built for high-demand environments. Focused on proven functionality the brand ensures that products like this maintain reliability when operating under critical or extreme conditions.

How does the unit differentiate between TPH and TOG during measurement?
It conducts two passes: one without Florisil® filtration to measure TOG and, after attaching a Florisil® cartridge at the inlet, a second pass isolates non‑polar hydrocarbons (TPH) by removing polar substances.
