The Hand Cranked Blasting Machine (BART-2) is a high-energy, manually powered detonation device designed for safe and reliable initiation of electric detonators—particularly those with high insensitivity such as Class C4. Compact and weighing only 1.6 kg, the BART-2 is fully portable and ideal for single-operator use in field demolition or controlled blasting operations. It operates without external power sources, utilizing a hand-cranked generator to charge an internal capacitor that delivers a powerful 1250 V, 88 J impulse.
The Blasting Machine features several mechanical safety mechanisms, including a removable crank handle that can be detached during setup or inspection, preventing unintentional charging. A mechanical safety cover blocks the crank when detonator lines are connected, while dual FIRE buttons must be pressed simultaneously to initiate the blast, reducing the risk of accidental discharge. The aluminum enclosure houses an ON-OFF/L-test switch, firing terminals, capacitor charge indicator LEDs, and supports up to 550 Class 1 detonators with 2 Ω resistance.
