The Viken Detection VERTEX Multi-Energy Portal (MEP) is a next-generation commercial vehicle inspection system that fuses HARRIER multi-view backscatter imaging with high-energy transmission X-ray powered by a 6–4 MeV VAREX Linatron — all in a single integrated platform. The system features a 225 KeV low-energy portal (2,310W) paired with a 6,000 KeV high-energy Linatron (900W), delivering up to four configurable backscatter views (right, left, top-down, and optional bottom-up) alongside an L-shaped transmission detector array for full-spectrum material discrimination. The scan tunnel accommodates vehicles up to 4.26m wide and 4.64m tall, achieving throughput of 100+ vehicles per hour at high-traffic checkpoints with zero blind spots. Key capabilities include advanced threat classification, organic contraband detection, high-energy cargo penetration, optional under-vehicle 360° backscatter, automated scan activation with traffic management integration, and AI/ML-ready architecture for future upgrades.
