• Compact & lightweight carry – Since it’s attached to your keys, size and weight matter. A keychain flashlight should be easily portable and not add bulk.

  • Adequate brightness / light modes – Even though it’s small, the flashlight should deliver enough lumens for everyday tasks (finding keyholes, walking in dark, emergency finding). Multi‑mode (high/low/strobe) is a plus.

  • Rechargeable vs replaceable battery – Rechargeable via USB (preferably USB‑C) is very convenient. Some models use replaceable cells (AAA, etc), which might suit certain contexts better.

  • Durable build & weather resistance – A keychain light often gets banged around, so tough materials (aluminium, anodised finish), impact resistance, and at least some water resistance are beneficial.

  • Attachment & carry convenience – A built‑in key ring loop, carabiner clip, or magnetic base make it practical. Also, features like lock‑out mode (to prevent accidental activation) can be very helpful.

  • Value for everyday use + emergency – While small, the keychain flashlight should serve both daily tasks and also be reliable in semi‑emergency/utility situations (power cut, finding items in dark, small repairs). Consider battery life, maintenance, and spare parts.
